Here are a few simple steps that can help you fix the problem with editing the vista start menu.

How can you customize the Start menu?

The next step to confirm the change is to left-click on the circle next to the classic Start menu to select it, as shown in our example (Figure 1.2).

The box argument also gives you privacy controls that determine whether the startup list will store and display recently opened folders or programs.
The Windows Vista Start Menu is probably the starting point for companies, folders, and files on your PC.
When you launch the Start menu, everyone will notice that the left pane contains a short list of program shortcuts. The bottom percentage, referring to the left pane, contains shortcuts to programs you’ve used recently, while the top percentage contains shortcuts to programs that your current PC manufacturer considers critical. To access other programs on your PC, click All Programs.
If you wish, you can change the appearance of the programs in the left panel, as long as they are not expired. For example, if the top left menu bar contains a shortcut to a program that customers rarely use, you might want to remove that shortcut and replace it with something more appropriate for the person on the menu. (When updating the boot selector, this is called pinning.)
